How we handle it
An air conditioner that runs without cooling is usually short on airflow or short on refrigerant. A clogged filter, a dirty coil, or a failed fan motor restricts airflow. A leak lowers the refrigerant charge. The symptoms look alike, so we test before we quote.
We check pressures and temperatures on both sides of the system, inspect the electrical parts that fail most often, and clear the condensate drain. If there is a refrigerant leak, we find and repair it. Topping up a leaking system only delays the same call.
A service visit in spring takes about an hour and costs far less than a breakdown in July. We work on central air systems and heat pumps of most makes.
