How we handle it
Most tank water heaters last eight to twelve years. Before that, a failed thermostat, heating element, or valve is usually worth repairing. After that, or once the tank itself leaks, replacement is the better use of your money.
We tell you which side of that line your heater is on and show you why. If we recommend replacement, you get prices for a like-for-like tank and, where your home suits it, a tankless unit, so you can compare running costs and space.
A standard tank replacement takes three to four hours. We drain and remove the old unit, fit the new one to current code, test it, and take the old tank away.
If the tank is leaking, turn off the cold water valve above it and call us.
